This involves children developing;positive self image, care of personal needs, respect and sensitivity to others, care of the environment, communication of feelings, independence, ability to solve problems, confidence to try new things, ability to make choices, working as part of a group.
This involves children developing; listening skills in a small and large groups, vocabulary and verbal skills,response to stories, poetry, songs and role-play, enjoyment of books, understanding how books work and association of sounds and word patterns with language, recognition of letters and phonic sounds, pre-writing skills.
This involves children developing mathematical language to describe shape, size, quantity, position and use of measurement.
Recognise and make patterns and sets, familiarity of numbers in songs, games and activities, recognition of numbers, able to sort, match, count and compare, skills to record number concepts.
Instructing a programmable toy, describing a simply journey and recognising sequences.
Involves children developing; ideas about their community and environment, recall of past and present events, awareness of surroundings, purpose and use of objects/materials, a sense of enquiry, prediction and purpose, use of Information Technology i.e. Computer/CD ROM's etc.
Involves children developing; gross and fine motor skills, confidence and control, co-ordination, balance and spatial awareness, ability to handle a range of tools and objects with efficiency, knowledge of safety.
Involves children developing; exploring through senses, and appreciation of sound, colour, shape and texture, use of a wide range of materials, suitable tools, instruments and other resources to express ideas and to communicate their feelings.
Learning Through Play
At Isleham Pre-School children learn through play. Each session is carefully planned to offer each child
a choice of activities, experiences and influences, which will gradually form a curriculum.
